Still teething

Lena is getting in 4 teeth right now and she is just miserable!  Last night she went to bed around 7:30 which is normal for her but was up again my 8:30 or 9.  She couldn't sleep and she had drooled so much her sheets were soaked.  She got up for awhile with us and just ripped around the house.  I don't think I have ever seen her so energetic!  We put her back to bed and a short while later she was up again.  We left her cry for a bit and she fell back asleep.  By this time it was around midnight.  So around 1 we decided it was safe to go to bed.  Just when I finished brushing my teeth poor Lena was screaming blood curdling cries.  She couldn't sleep, her nose was running, she felt hot and she was a drooling mess!  Poor little girl.  She was so upset she was breathing so hard.  Jason changed her sheets again and we popped in a movie and left her watch that in her crib.  By this time it was 2 AM.  I am not sure what time Lena actually went to sleep but we didn't wake up until about 10 this morning and she was still passed out.  She didn't wake up until 1130!  I hope these teeth come in soon.

Day at the corn maze!

Lena had a great day today at the local corn maze yesterday.  They had a hay bale maze for the little tikes, sheep, goats, a cow, pigs, and a tee-pee for Lena to play in!

Rodgers Farms

The first thing we did when we got there was play in the hay maze.  Lena liked the sign in front of the hay maze better than she liked the maze!

Finally once we got inside the maze she liked going through the plastic tubes they had.  Otherwise she didn't really get what the point of the maze was.

We checked out all the animals too.  Lena really liked the pigs because they made a lot of noise while they were digging in the dirt.

Once we were all done at the animals we spent the rest of the time at the tires filled with corn.  Did the princess ever love these!  We need to find out where we can buy a load of corn to fill our turtle sandbox!

After playing in the corn we ate hot dogs, or at least tried to.  Lena turned into a little Diva and didn't want to have lunch so she went back to playing in the corn for awhile.  A little girl came over to sit with Lena and play with her.  The girl wanted to hug and touch Lena but she wasn't having any part of that!  Princess threw a tantrum and wanted out of the corn now!  So that was it, we left.

We headed back to the car and changed Lena's diaper and found a big handful of corn hiding there!  LOL

Bottle free life (until she's 21 anyway)

On September 14th, my little Princess became bottle free!  She is now drinking from sippy cups, straws and regular cups!  I am so proud of her.  The day we decided to go bottle free we had gone to Annie's Playground so Lena did great with no bottles.  She had a bit of a meltdown in the middle of the day but she got through it.

The only thing we noticed was Lena was a little stressed out causing her to be a little constipated.  She was miserable for a few days but she eventually got unplugged.  She is loving life now, watching TV while holding her little cup.  She doesn't seem to miss that bottle anymore.

Congratulations Lena!!

Tired & My Gym, not a good combo

Well, today is Friday, that means class at My Gym for little girl.  We went last night for free play but ended up with a bloody lip after Lena took a header into the wood ramp.  Poor gal, she was running and oops, mouth first into that darn ramp.  So today she may have had memories of yesterday or was it that she was just plain tired?  She took a 30 second nap on the way so I'm guessing that was it.  Today's class started off with stretching and Lena screaming, more stretching and more screaming.  Then we moved on to free play and more screaming.  I think the only part she didn't scream was the separation time.  Hmmmm what does that mean!?

We left My Gym and went straight to the Bel Air library.  Princess has a fascination with libraries!  It is amazing. Put her in a library and she will just roam around for hours!  The Bel Air library has a kitchen set and plastic food in the kiddie section which she found later.  First she discovered the stairs and that she likes to climb them and go back down them (with supervision of course!).  She hasn't pulled any books off the shelf which is amazing for her because that is her hobby here at home.  Oh and she liked ripping all the felt objects off the felt board and throwing them on the floor.  Pictures to come of Lena and the kitchenette.

After the library we all headed home and Lena hit the crib for a bit.  Not long enough because she woke up shortly after screaming again.  Sigh.  She is having a rough time with these teeth.  I am pretty sure she is working on a tooth on her right near the back.  She constantly pulls at her ear and shoves her fist toward that side of her mouth.

Still no interest in the chicken wing.

Little Toader Appeteether chicken wing review

Ok, today we got the appeteether chicken wing.  It is a rubber wing shaped kinda like a boomerang- see pic below.

So, Princess does not like the chicken wing nor wants anything to do with the chicken wing.  =(   $15 down the drain.  Oh well, if she ever gets the kitchen maybe we can just use this as fake food....very expensive fake food.

Bath sponge

One product I can't live without at bath time has been the bath sponge!  Here is one that we picked up at Babies.  It wasn't expensive, maybe $6-7.

The Princess loves getting a bath with this.  Before the sponge we would put her in that little hard plastic tub and hold her up with our arm (our tub wasn't fancy).  Poor little baby just didn't like the bath this way.  After getting the sponge she was a lot calmer in the tub.  She's 16 months and we STILL use the sponge!  We lie her on this to wash her and then let her sit up to play.  I think it's easier to wash her hair since she's lying down, no water gets in her eyes.

Day out at Annie's Playground and encounter with a bully

So today we went out to Annie's Playground.  Lena had a great time!  We walked about a mile and a half to the playground.  It was a little hot so little Princess fell asleep on the way there which was a good thing because she was a bit cranky this morning.  We arrived and she drank her milk and we gave her a rice cake.  She spotted mine, which she immediately confiscated, then walked around holding her 2 rice cakes.  She bites the one and the next bite is from the 2nd one and then back and forth.  She's so cute!

So she discovered she loves to run up and down all the ramps in the castle and wants no help from me or daddy.  We did run into another mother who had her two girls and little boy at the playground.  We were all standing around talking when the little boy walked right over to Lena and pushed her to the ground.  She looked right up at him, put out her bottom lip, and started to cry!  Poor girl, she didn't know what to do.  Mommy stood her up, brushed her off and then she was ok.  She continued to try and play with the girls but avoided the little bully.  Bless her heart!

So after she was good and tuckered out we decided to head on home.  She walked up some of the big hill near the end of the trail and then ran right into mommies legs, she just couldn't go anymore.  Princess was beat.  We headed on home and she's been in bed ever since.  What a great day!

Teething woes

This is my first post on my new blog!  First a little about me.  My name is Jenny, my husband's name is Jason and my beautiful amazing daughter's name is Lena.  We bought a house last year, which has been a disaster, and moved to Belcamp.

So, now about the Princess.  She is really the most amazing baby ever, but since she's my only child I don't have much to compare too.  Every day she gets cuter and cuter, I just can't believe it!  She is still pretty bald so I am hoping some hair will come in soon as she is turning 16 months in 2 days.  She was a late walker so she is just perfecting that now but that doesn't stop her from getting into everything in the house.

Princess is teething at the moment so she screams quite a bit these days and stays up way past her bedtime.  She has also gotten into this horrible habit of chewing on her crib at night and I have no idea how to stop her.  Any ideas?  I would get those rubber rail covers but then she will just chew on those and that won't help solve the problem.  She has also been chewing on any wood she can find in the house including the coffee table and other various furniture.  Chew toys don't really help this girl either.  We have tons of freeze chews and textured chews and squishy chews but nothing seems to work.  So yesterday I ordered a new product to try by Little Toader.  It is a chompin chicken wing appeteether for $14.95.  This will probably just make it to the bottom of the toy bin also but it's worth a shot.  Princess has been so miserable trying to cut these teeth I have to try something!  Anything!  We are desperate here.  I will let you know how this thing goes when I get it.

I love to review products so I will try to do some quick reviews later on some of the products we've tried.  I have a lot to say about sippy cups.

I also have 2 house cats named Tigger and Cleo.  Tigger is a hefty 16 lbs and her sister Cleo is a mere 7 lbs.  They are great kitties and we love them dearly.  They are not so sure about Princess yet though.  She loves to chase them around the house and try to pet them.  So far no one has gotten scratched or hissed at so I couldn't ask for more.  The cats are getting a little more curious about the Princess but she still screams a little too much for their liking.
