Catching up

I haven't posted anything in awhile.  Not too much new going on.  Lena has been going to her freeplay on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then class on Friday.  She doesn't do as well during class according to Jason.  She has no interest in sitting and listening to someone telling her to do something.  She would rather play play play.  She does sit and listen when she wants to so we know she can do it.  Every night before bed we read her favorite books to her.  She would sit there for an hour if we left her.  She loves to turn the pages and open those flaps up!

She is still teething!  Those 4 molars are taking their time coming in, poor little girl.  She is still chewing on everything from her arm to the crib.  I got a replacement for the chicken wing from the company, a BBQ rib, and she doesn't like that either.  sigh.  The rib is really cute, she at least will tolerate it's presence unlike that chicken wing.

Grammy Shaffer came down last weekend for a visit and Lena just loved it!  I hope this is a new chapter of not being afraid of everyone.  She still had some reservations of course but she didn't cry at the sight of grammy.  We took the Victoria Stillwell (dog trainer) approach and met grammy outside.  I think it did the trick!  Grammy brought toys too which couldn't have hurt either.  The toys distracted her and then she forgot all about someone new.  Lena took books to grammy to read and toys to play with, Jason and I weren't even on her radar.  It was eventually time for a nap though and when she woke up she had forgotten grammy was there!  She got a bit scared but eventually came around again.  We decided to go for a walk that night but didn't make it far as the Princess had a little meltdown at the playground.  So home and bed and the next day grammy was the apple of her eye again until she left.  What a great time!

Lena has some new toys now too.  Thanks grammy!  She got a pop up tent (in pink), a princess hamper (in pink) and a new lounge chair for the living room (in pink).  Lena loves that chair more than I would have ever thought.  It is shaped like a little bowl and she just fits perfectly in it.  She loves to sit there and stroke doggies ear while Bubble Guppies plays in the background.  Also, grammy got her a Polamalu Jersey, Steelers night clothes and some cute outfits.  Wow, gram knows how to spoil the girl rotten!  I guess that is what grams do best!

A Grandma is...

Author: Valerie Dupont
A grandma is someone who spoils you
and takes care of you when mama's not near.
She's always happy to see you
and brings plenty of hugs and kisses to share.
Helps you when your down.
Catches you when you fall.
She'll brighten up you day,
even on the stormiest night.
She'll tuck you in and read you a book,
till yours eyes grow heavy and tired.
but soon enough you'll see her again,
with bright eyes and smiles.
