So on Monday Lena went to the zoo for the very 1st time! The day was a rainy and cold one, only 50 degrees.
Our first stop was the farm animals and Lena loved them! We got to see roosters which she tried to mimic by making noises, a cow, a couple donkeys, and goats! Lots and lots of goats! The goats were actually in the area where she could touch them. She was so excited she went right up to those goats and screamed right in their faces! Then she tried to pet each and every one of them. Once she was done petting them she roamed the pen, trying to get into all the forbidden zones like the water bowl and feed trough. Then back to the goats she went, focusing on the biggest goats. She almost got run over a few times but thanks to the fast action of mommy and daddy she was safe and sound. We left the goats and headed to see the donkeys. The donkeys were making all kinds of noises and Lena was watching wide eyed.
We tried to leave the farm animals and Lena walked right back over to those cute little donkeys. So round two of the donkeys went pretty much like round one. She pet them, screamed at them and then ran around in the pen like a wild woman. Finally we went on our way to see the rest of the zoo. We made it to see the big cats, the elephants, the deer, the lions, the monkeys and the penguins. Lena loved the penguins! She watched them for about 5 or 10 minutes then started to cry. She was hungry, tired and cold! By this time we had her bundled up in two coats, a hat and her hood. Her little nose and fingers were still red and chilly though even under all those clothes! She started to eat a rice cake and about 10 minutes later she was out, rice cake still in hand. By this time though it was time for us to leave the park.
What a great day!
